The Blues are facing a daunting task of overturning a three-goal deficit suffered in the first leg for a chance to book a place in the quarter finals of the European competition.

However, Lampard may have to do that without up to nine key players through injuries and suspensions.

Three of the players include Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic both who limped off with hamstring injuries during Chelsea’s FA Cup final loss to Arsenal.

Pedro Rodriguez, who was introduced as a substitute in the match is also a doubt for the Germany trip having dislocated his shoulder.

Joining the three in the list are Willian who has fitness concerns and N’Golo Kante who was sidelined in the latter stages of the 2019/20. Billy Gilmour is sure to miss the Bayern encounter, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek set to be assessed first before he is given a clean bill of health.

The pair of Jorginho and Marcos Alonso will without doubt miss the match as they are both suspended.

Lampard could therefore be forced to employ a 5-2-3 formation for this particular fixture, with Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount leading the goal hunt.

Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic could be deployed in midfield, with Recce James and Palmieri joining them as wingbacks.

Zouma could partner Christensen and Antonio Rudiger in defence as Willy Caballero keeps his place between the sticks.
