Emiliano Martinez has sent a warning to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta by opening the door for an exit from the Emirates Stadium in pursuit of first-team assurances.
The 27-year-old excelled in the absence of Bernd Leno due to injury, helping to fire the Gunners to FA Cup glory against Chelsea and impressing in the Premier League.
That has given Arteta a significant selection headache ahead of the new season, with Leno and Martinez both vying for a starting berth.
Arsenal are keen to extend Martinez’s contract at the club but he is seeking assurances over his playing time and has threatened to pursue a transfer.
